I am a Pacific Northwest native, having grown up in Spokane, Washington. I attended the University of Washington and graduated with a Bachelor of Science in biochemistry before heading across the country to attend dental school at University of Maryland in Baltimore.
After graduating, I completed a one-year internship in oral surgery at Northwestern Memorial Hospital in Chicago and stayed in the city to join a private practice. Despite the opportunities I had in Chicago, I decided to return to my West Coast roots, and make the move to McMinnville, Oregon with my husband Eric and our two dogs Zuri (a Rhodesian ridgeback) and Huxley (a yellow lab). Now I’m excited to say that I’ve stepped into the role of small business owner in addition to dentist.
Moving to Oregon not only introduced a new step in my professional life, but has open up more opportunities to spend time partaking in some of my favorite hobbies like skiing, hiking, cycling, traveling and, of course, enjoying delicious Oregon wine. My husband and I are thrilled to call the beautiful Willamette Valley home.
I graduated from Sunset High School in Beaverton, Oregon. I attended Portland State University, began dental studies at the Oregon Health Sciences University School Of Dentistry and graduated from the University Of Alabama School Of Dentistry (with honors).
I have furthered my education continually since graduating from College. I am proud to say that I have achieved FAGD certification. My personal philosophy is that I believe we should never stop learning. We must always be open to new and better ideas and methods. That is why you will always find the latest and best equipment and treatment methods at All About Smiles.
I am especially proud to say that in 2015, I celebrated 28 years of marriage to my lovely wife, Lisa. Besides being my best friend and loving companion, she provides me with the organization and management that I need in both my business and personal life.
And of equal importance, we have two spectacular daughters. The oldest, Amanda, is a gifted athlete and currently working with me as a Dental Hygienist at our Alaska office. Our youngest, Savannah, is a superior student who graduated high school at the age of 16 and is currently attending Creighton University in pursuit of becoming a dentist.
There is one more girl in my life. Our Chihuahua, Pepper. She would lick the skin off my face if I let her and loves spending time with her family whether in the Lower Forty- Eight or at our house and office in Delta Junction, Alaska.
All these females make my life complete. My favorite activities are working around my home, playing tennis and skiing with my family. I love soft jazz, movies, sports and miss “24” and The Unit on TV. Tasting the fantastic local pinot noirs is right up there on the top of my list.
Life is definitely good!
My life is full of surprises between my fiance, Sam, my 13-year-old stepson, Seth, and my evermore curious 4-year-old son, Logan. We love taking the kids and heading into the hills with the Jeep, across the mountain with the bikes or cuddling up on the couch for movie night. Crossfit has become a large part of our family life and a great personal passion. I relish new challenges and have family and friends who share in seeking out and meeting those challenges.
Outside of work, I love spending time with my family who live locally, especially my sisters. We are always up for an adventure. In December I will celebrate a year with my amazing boyfriend, Nick. One of our favorite pastimes… watching The Walking Dead. Shhh, no spoilers!
