The proportion of each tooth to your other teeth and to your face is important to your appearance. All About Smiles understands this and with careful assessment, the latest technology and great skill, we are able to give you a smile that is uniquely “you.”
With modern materials and techniques such as porcelain veneers, tooth whitening, tooth contouring and gum line reshaping we can provide you with complete long-lasting enhancement.
A straighter, whiter smile is possible without braces. By carefully applying thin layers of translucent veneers, each tooth can be shaped exactly as you want it. It can be matched in color with your other teeth, or used to restore your smile to the whiter color of your youth.
Sometimes teeth are badly broken down, or there may be decay around large old fillings. All About Smiles may determine that the best solution for restoration is a porcelain crown.
We prepare your tooth, make an impression and send it to the lab where the crown is made. Then it can be permanently cemented onto the prepared teeth. You will have a long lasting, natural- looking restoration.
All About Smiles only uses modern, mercury-free, tooth colored fillings for your health and benefit.
Less tooth structure needs to be removed for these fillings because they are bonded to the tooth, restoring the tooth to its original strength. The tooth looks natural and is less sensitive to cold and hot than it would be with the older metal fillings.
It is possible to fix chipped teeth, reshape cracked teeth and close gaps between teeth with contouring materials.
Layer by layer, a strong, natural looking material is carefully and artistically applied to recreate the smile you once had, or to give you the smile you have dreamed about for years. Your smile will look natural and last a long time.
The latest and most effective way to instantly get those white teeth you always wanted in less than 45 minutes. We apply the special Zoom! formula, place you under the Zoom! power light and before you know it, you will have a whole new smile. If it is not Zoom!, it is not the latest advance in power light bleaching technology.
The Zoom! Chairside Whitening system is a scientifically advanced, patent pending, tooth whitening procedure. It’s safe, effective and fast, very fast. In less than an hour your teeth will become dramatically whiter. Zoom! is ideal for anyone looking for immediate results. The convenience of Zoom! in comparison to days of wearing trays or strips makes it the perfect choice for the busy individual.
The Zoom! in-office whitening system will make your teeth dramatically whiter in less than an hour. The procedure is simple. It begins with a short preparation to cover your lips and gums, leaving only your teeth exposed. The Zoom! clinician then applies the proprietary Zoom! whitening gel, which was designed to be used with a specially designed light. The Zoom! light and gel work together to gently penetrate your teeth, breaking up stains and discoloration. With proper care your smile will sparkle for years.
Tooth whitening is a well established procedure in cosmetic dentistry. Hydrogen Peroxide, the active agent in Zoom! has been safely used for many years in the treatment of gums and other oral soft tissue.
The whitening process is effective on most discolored teeth. Darker stains, such as those caused by antibiotics, are more difficult to whiten. The degree of whiteness will vary from patient to patient, depending on the structure of the teeth.
Teeth that appear too long, or too short, or a smile that is “all gums” can be improved greatly with gum line reshaping. With a painless laser procedure it is easy to transform a gummy smile to one that is beautiful.
Because missing teeth can cause other teeth to shift and prematurely wear, or your jawbone to shrink, All About Smiles sometimes recommends a bridge. A bridge is usually crafted with connecting crowns on adjacent teeth to bridge a gap in your smile. These are natural looking porcelain restorations that feel and function like natural teeth.
Years ago when people went to the dentist to get a cavity repaired they were left with dark, ugly metal (silver) fillings. Porcelain inlays and onlays eliminate the unsightly metallic fillings that most dentists used in the past and will brighten a smile immensely. Patients will regain their self-confidence, knowing those dark fillings are a thing of the past.
Continuing Smile Care
Cleanings/Preventive Check Ups
All About Smiles understands that good dental care is vital to your overall health. Regular cleanings and preventive checkups are critical elements in achieving optimal dental well-being. Our team makes the check-up as thorough and accurate as modern technology allows.
Periodontal/Gum Disease Information
Some form of gum disease affects about 75% of adults over the age of 35. The most common form is gingivitis, which affects the tissues that surround and support your teeth. Bacteria turn into tartar and build up around the gum at the base of your teeth. This can irritate the gums and create pockets of bacteria between the gums and teeth. It may cause red, swollen and bleeding gums. If the bacteria aren’t brought under control, it may progress to periodontitis. This is an advanced form of gum disease where the plaque and tartar extend beneath your gum line. It causes the gums to recede from around the teeth and pockets of infection may form destroying tissue and bone that supports the teeth. Teeth may loosen and eventually fall out. Signs and symptoms include: loose teeth, swollen, recessed or bleeding gums, pus around teeth, unpleasant taste and smell, pain when eating hot, cold or sweet foods.
Periodontal disease is more than a problem in your mouth, it has been shown to be a causative factor in heart disease, stroke, low birth-weight babies, and other serious illnesses.
Sometimes your smile is significantly compromised by gum disease, tooth decay, or missing teeth. Perhaps teeth have been damaged by an accident, or problems have developed with the passage of time, or maybe you suffer from problems that began in childhood.
Whatever the problem, whatever the cause, with 21st century dentistry, it is possible to restore comprehensive dental health. Dr. Oliver is dedicated to overall dental health. And he knows that with today’s dentistry, he can give you exactly what you need.
If you have lost teeth due to injury, disease or decay, our dental implant team can provide you with natural-like, jaw strengthening, tooth replacements. Once we determine that you are a candidate for implants, we will insert a small, man-made fixture into the jawbone. It takes some time to bond with the jaw, but when it does it serves as an anchor for the replacement tooth, which will be attached to it. Your implant will look, function and feel like your natural tooth. Missing teeth cause jawbone shrinkage, which makes your face look older. Implants will help eliminate that shrinkage.
If you hope to keep your teeth for a lifetime you need to have healthy gums. Your gum tissues often reveal the condition of your bone underneath. If your gums are bleeding and infected, chances are your supporting bone may be suffering too. This may result in loosening, and eventual tooth loss. Seven out of 10 people have gum disease and often don’t even know it. Unfortunately, it cannot be cured, but it can be controlled with regular dental visits.
If just the gum tissues are involved, it is called Gingivitis but when the supporting bone is also infected it is known as Periodontitis. Both diseases are a result of bacteria in and around the tooth roots. If you are susceptible to gum disease, you might need to visit us for a professional cleaning every three to four months. This will help to keep the bacteria under control.
Sometimes it is necessary to clean out diseased pulp from inside of a tooth. It may have become infected because of a deep cavity or fracture that allowed bacteria to seep in or it may have been injured due to trauma. What was once a somewhat uncomfortable, two or three visit procedure can now usually be completed in one visit with minimal discomfort. We use an electronic device to quickly and accurately find the tip of the root and then clean the canal with the aid of a surgical microscope and ultrasonic instrumentation. Finally, we use the newest materials available to seal the root of the tooth efficiently. Job done. Tooth saved!
Orthodontics is a form of dentistry that specializes in the diagnosis, prevention and treatment of dental and facial irregularities. These problems are classified as malocclusion, which means a bad bite. Dr. Oliver is skilled in the design, application and control of corrective appliances, also known as braces, to bring teeth, lips and jaws into proper alignment to achieve facial balance.
It is always less expensive to correct a problem when the patient is younger than to wait for the problem to become more serious in the future.
Benefits of early orthodontic treatment include:
• Improve profile, smile, and self-esteem
• Correct harmful habits, such as thumb-sucking and tongue thrusting
• Develop the arches and make more room for the tongue
• Improved speech
• Reduction of time in fixed braces, frequently eliminating the need for extracting permanent teeth
• Increases nasal breathing, which improves health
• Eliminates airway constriction
• Creates beautiful broad smiles by developing the arches
• Eliminates grinding of teeth at night
• Prevents headaches and earaches
You are never too old to improve your smile. All About Smiles also treats adults for a wide variety of conditions, from overbites to underbites. Approximately 25 percent of today’s orthodontic patients are adults. Teeth can be moved at any age, and therefore more adults are proceeding with orthodontic treatment to achieve straight teeth, a beautiful, and healthy jaw joints. Many adults prefer the clear or gold braces, which are more esthetically pleasing than the standard metal braces.
No two smiles are alike, and therefore no two orthodontic treatment programs are either. Typically, active treatment times range from one to two years and vary with the degree of tooth movement and the severity of the problem.
High-Technology
Invisalign
Here is how it works: Your cosmetic dentist at All About Smiles will take an impression of your existing teeth. The model made from the impression will be analyzed with 3-D computer imaging technology. The computer will figure out how to straighten your teeth and over what time. A series of clear plastic aligners will be made for you to wear. You’ll visit your dentist at regular intervals to check your progress. Congratulations! When you’re finished wearing each clear aligner in the series, your treatment will be complete and you will have straighter teeth and the beautiful smile you deserve.
You will wear each aligner for 2 weeks. They are virtually invisible and unnoticeable. You change each aligner at 2 week intervals until treatment is complete. (usually 6-14 months) This is truly 21st century dentistry it’s best!
Whether your smile needs minor improvements or more extensive adjustments, Invisalign can certainly help. It’s successful in treating overly crowded or widely spaced teeth. It can also relieve more complex issues, including overbites, underbites and even crossbites. In fact, All About Smiles can use Invisalign clear aligners in all or part of just about any treatment plan.
Because Invisalign uses clear plastic aligners to position and straighten teeth, you can keep your active lifestyle during treatment. Unlike braces, Invisalign aligners have no metal bands or wires to irritate your mouth. So go ahead and be as active as you like. Since Invisalign is removable, just take the clear aligners out for special events or if you’re going to indulge in a sticky, gooey snack.
An average Invisalign course of treatment takes about a year. You’ll come in to All About Smiles every 6 to 8 weeks for adjustments and to check progress. At regular intervals, you’ll receive a new set of custom-molded clear aligners to continue the straightening process. The total number of clear aligners is specific to you, determined by All About Smiles for your course of treatment.
After some great improvements over the last few years, digital x-rays now offer exquisite diagnostic clarity with reduced radiation. This radiation exposure can be as much as 70% less. We are able to see enhanced images five times larger and with better detail than ever possible with conventional radiographs. The high tech changes applied here are truly a great asset.
We are pleased to offer our patients CEREC restoration services–a superior method of creating precisely-designed, color-matched and highly durable ceramic restorations right in our practice. From simple fillings to full crowns to veneers, CEREC delivers the results you need in a single appointment.
After examining the tooth and determining the course of treatment, we will prepare your teeth for restoration, similarly to traditional treatment methods. Your prepared tooth will be coated with a safe, tasteless powder. CEREC then uses a state-of-the-art digital 3D camera to create an optical impression. This digital image replaces the physical impression required in traditional procedures. No more long waits while a tray of impression goop hardens in your mouth.
State-of-the-art CAD software allows us to design every precise detail of your restoration with the accuracy you’ve come to expect from us. The software allows us to customize the shape of the restoration to exactly fit your specific clinical needs.
While you wait, exact design specifications are sent to our on-site milling machine to create your restoration. About 15 minutes later, your all-ceramic, color-matched restoration is ready for placement. Your new restoration is then fitted, polished and bonded for permanence. Your tooth is restored back to its natural form, function and beauty.
With a small camera, about the size of a pen, we are able to get inside your mouth and take detailed pictures. We can project these pictures onto a computer screen and zoom in and enlarge the problem areas. You are able to see exactly what we find. We then give you options and show you the possibilities. You can take a computer print out home to help you make informed decisions about the treatment that you want to pursue.

CT Scanner–Precise, 3-D Imaging
With our new i-CAT scanner, a state-of-the art diagnostic imaging system, we can take a scan of a patient’s head in less time than it takes to do traditional X-rays. The scan reveals a patient’s bones, providing detailed three-dimensional images from a comfortable seated position rather than the more common reclining position used with conventional scanner.
Our diagnostic capabilities are precise, allowing us to provide dental implants, analyze TMJ anatomy, and prepare for sinus grafting with accuracy, comfort, and assuredness. By taking 360-degree pictures of the head and reconstructing them into incredible 3-D images, we generate a life-like image of the jaw anatomy–all in less than twenty seconds. Using this information, we create a three-dimensional facial mask of the patient revealing the teeth, jaws, and skin that will allow us to appropriately coordinate a treatment plan for any and all oral surgical, orthodontic, cosmetic, orthopedic, or trauma cases. By obtaining a complete picture of the patient’s face and skull, we avoid any surprises at the surgical procedure step.
We are sure that you will appreciate the benefits of this incredible diagnostic tool, which allows us to have the results in three minutes and less radiation than with a two-dimensional x-ray machine.

TAP–The Thornton Adjustable Positioner
TAP Patients who snore excessively or who suffer from sleep apnea may benefit from the TAP appliance, a custom-made two-piece adjustable device worn while sleeping. The appliance maintains the airway open so that air can pass through the throat, minimizing snoring and sleep apnea. It does this by holding the lower jaw in a forward position so that it does not shift or fall open during the night. This position prevents the airway from collapsing, which can result in the snoring sound and sleep apnea.
A remarkable benefit of this device is that patients can adjust it easily while it is in the mouth. Patients appreciate this feature because it gives them control of their treatment, allowing them to fine-tune the appliance’s position at home to achieve comfortable and maximum results. Patients like that it is easy-to-use, easy-to-fit, adjustable, has room for the tongue to be comfortable, and allows the lips to close.
Most patients state it can take about a week to become accustomed to the appliance, but it is a small price to pay after suffering from snoring and/or sleep apnea for years, or even decades.
The TAP device helps prevent conditions linked to sleep apnea, such as heart attack, stroke, high blood pressure, chronic daytime sleepiness, stroke, heartburn, reflux, morning headaches, and depression.
The Diagnodent is a powerful new laser used for early detection and diagnosis of tooth decay. The Diagnodent also helps locate decay that may be hidden in the cracks and crevices of teeth. Early detection means less damage, pain, and hassle for you down the road. Please contact our practice today to learn more about the Diagnodent.
